The Davidic Covenant

This Sunday we will be looking at 2 Samuel 5 – 7... The Davidic Covenant.

When you think of covenant, what comes to your mind?

Rules? Contracts? …?

When we look at the Davidic Covenant in 2 Samuel 7, there are (at least) two things that stand out:

David is under no obligation to the Lord in the covenant. The throne is simply offered as a gift from the God in whom he trusts.

The fulfillment of the covenant rests in the character and integrity of God... not David.

Consider your own salvation... do you see these two facts shining through?

Blessings as you go about your day today... refreshed and joyful!

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 1 Peter 1:8–12
