Be a blessing

Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene.

I do not read the newspaper.  I subscribe to several rss feeds that the major media outlets provide. (For an explanation of rss feeds click here.)  One of the things that is absolutely amazing is the amount of gossip that comes across the news channels.  One would think that the conservative media outlets would stick to their principles and report... the news. 

 

But alas... the temptation to indulge in godless chatter is too irresistible for some.  Here is something to consider every time we speak (or listen):

 

Is the conversation I am involved in going to edify and encourage?

 

If it is not... then maybe you should engage in a different conversation.  Why?  Reread 2 Timothy 2:16 - 17.  This sort of thing spreads like gangrene.
