Turning the Heat Up?

Which do you prefer: keeping your house cooler during the winter and wearing blankets to save money, or paying the extra cash for a better quality of life?

Now let’s take this into the realm of the spiritual. When all is said and done, every believer in Jesus Christ will stand before the Judgment (Bema) seat of Christ.

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. (1 Co 3:10-15)

Are we willing to pay a little extra in terms of service and submission to the Lord now with the promise of great wealth on that Day, or are you content with having a “better quality of life” now, free of persecution and the ridicule of being known as a believer in Jesus Christ, with little to show on that Day?

May the Lord lead us in the way the pleases Him and may we be wise enough to follow.
